Project 52: Weekly Challenge #8 — LOVE

Of course, what better way to express one’s love but through flowers.

I have been asking my husband to get me flowers for the longest time now and he’s been telling me to just wait and see. Finally, he made good with his promise during the second week of February — not to celebrate Valentine’s though. I assure you it was just purely coincidental. He got me the potted type so I could take care of the plant and have flowers every day. How sweet. 🙂 So here is a photo of this present that still stands on top of the kitchen bench and occasionally outside, on top of the fridge, or by the window sill. 🙂

Project 52: Weekly Challenge #7 — Cute

Hi! It’s been a while since I have written here in my blog. I guess school has finally caught up with me. But for a change, I told myself I’m going to spend my Sunday night doing things that make me happy (not work!). And so for this delayed post, I’m showing the world a photo I took of the two cutest cousins one can have — Chloie and Katelyn — with the participation of their new “pet.” I took this photo in a less than ideal situation — tungsten light, night time, no tripod. Not so bad for a CUTE challenge, eh? Love, love.

Last week’s DPS Weekly Challenge was all about Bokeh and I’m proud to say that I know how to do it now. I can do it purposely. Here are two of the photos that made my day. 🙂

Project 52: Weekly Challenge #5 — Natural Light Portrait

I know, I know. This is a late post. Well, the past two weeks had been hectic with the opening of school and now Week 2 is almost finished. But I didn’t forget. I just needed time to upload pictures, choose one, and process it.

Last Saturday, I took this portrait of my husband. I was reading this e-book on portraits from DPS and decided to apply some of the things I learned from it, as well as other readings, of course. I wanted to achieve this half lit look and he wanted to look like one of the Beatles 🙂 and this was the outcome. I just love how sharp the eye is.

Truly, nice things come out when one loves what they do. 🙂

Project 52: Weekly Challenge #4 — Colour Contrast

After doing Contrast last week, this week, DPS’ Assignment is Colour Contrast. Using my new Olympus OM-D EM 5, shooting this flower was really a joy. See how crisp the lines and how striking the red and yellow, as well as the green backdrop.

Project 52: Weekly Challenge #3 — Contrast

This week’s post is all about contrast–not of colours, but light and darkness. I just love how the sunlight, shadows, and Grand Hotel Melbourne’s architecture brought out the contrast I am looking for. Since I couldn’t choose which one I love the most, I’m putting all three photos on this post. I hope you’ll like the photos as much as I enjoyed taking them.

Project 52: Weekly Challenge #2 — Camera Phone

This week had been hectic with the Summer Bible Camp my sister, husband and I managed for three days. I was so busy that I almost forgot to do the Weekly Assignment from DPS.

I live in a farm so I thought I’ll take photos of ordinary things around my place. This photo of the tree was taken during the golden hour.

I just love how the sunlight bathes the trees, the grass, and everything on its path with a golden hue. I used my Samsung Galaxy SIII to take the photo by the way. Aren’t God’s creations just amazing? 🙂 Taking and editing this photo is a blessing in itself.

Project 52: Weekly Challenge # 1 — New Year’s Resolution

This year, I’m commiting myself to becoming a better photographer. Last year was phenomenal as I learned to shoot in Manual Mode and do Macro Photography. This year, I would like to challenge myself to develop my skills more and work towards being a pro. So help me God.

My First Prenup/Engagement Shoot and Video

First love, first kiss, first hug, fist touch…  Those are a lot of firsts for couples in love.  For me, my first prenup/engagement shoot.  And, boy, what fun we had!  The photos were taken in Marina Beach and Breakwater in Mariveles, Bataan, Philippines just right before and after sunset.  Enjoy!

 

On iPhone 4 and Cardinia Lakes

My photography teacher told us before that a famous Australian photographer uses the iPhone to take photos in events.  Well, I agree with her that nothing beats the quality of DSLRs still.  However, knowing the bulk of my DSLR would prevent me from running fast (and comfortably at that), I decided to use my iPhone4 to capture some great landscape views from Cardinia Lakes near Pakenham, and below is the result:
